The 911 Targa is the most elegant 911 Porsche has to offer. The car remains true to it’s classic 911 shape with only the roof being altered. In 1965, the targa was born due to changes in safety rules and regulations. A traditional convertible would not fair well in the unfortunate case of a roll over, so Porsche designed the targa shape which was an open top experience with a decorated roll bar behind the front row of seats. From 1965 to the current day, the targa is still easily identified by its famous roll over bar which has the “Targa” name badged under the classic three slits. In 1965 the roof used to be manually operated but today the roofs mechanism transitions with the push of a button, folding the top to store underneath the one piece, rounded read window. The targa delivers a sense of sportiness and class from any angle it is viewed or experienced.
This 2016 Porsche 911 Targa was built in the last year that Porsche fitted their 911 Carrera and Targas with a naturally aspirated flat six. In 2017, Porsche changed with the times and started to fit turbo charged engines into these cars. This 2016 Targa is the last of a now discontinued breed. In 2016, the GTS was also the most powerful Porsche offered to it’s enthusiasts with a manual transmission. The car was purchased new in Vancouver and came to Ontario in 2018. It remains a one owner car with only 12,000 km on the clock. This 2016 Targa is the last naturally aspirated Targa, the GTS is the rarest trim, and the 7 speed manual is a scarce option. Combined, this spec makes this car extremely rare and desirable for Porsche enthusiasts.
